Meet Clare, a Private Online 11+ English Tutor

As a shy child, I know the struggle of lacking self-confidence. I learned to become confident as a teacher. I remember the fear of facing a room of curious eyes and thinking I had two choices, either to run away or embrace the challenge. Stepping outside of my comfort zone was a decision that changed my life. 

After nearly a decade teaching at Thomas’s London Day School, Fulham, Putney High Junior School, The Roche School and Eaton House the Manor in Clapham, I returned to my Devon roots in 2019 to become a full-time, private online English tutor.

My typical students are academically bright, conscientious, focused and thoughtful but often hard on themselves. Many grapple with an invisible barrier—a fear of failure. My approach is about gently helping them overcome this fear and build solid confidence in their abilities.

I believe that education should inspire a love for lifelong learning. I help children unlock their full potential and discover the joy and satisfaction that learning brings! It’s about creating a space where children can relax and learn.
