- During this 60-minute session, your child will be gently assessed and guided through thoughtfully selected English material. You will also have the opportunity to share any work they have completed. Helping me to give you an insight into their potential, and the support they need to truly thrive.
- A unique and enjoyable learning experience. Your child will come away energised and more confident - this is a powerful learning experience designed to stretch and inspire your child’s natural abilities.
- A tangible outcome for parents. After the session, you’ll receive a brief expert summary outlining key strengths and areas for development. Alternatively, you can choose to book a complimentary private one-on-one Zoom call with me to discuss the results in more detail.

Year 4 11+ Course Overview
Year 4 is all about laying strong foundations for 11 Plus English success, confident self-expression and a lifelong love of English!
- Term 1: The year begins with a strong emphasis on creative writing. This early focus helps children gain confidence in organising their thoughts, expanding vocabulary, and developing a clear writer’s voice.
- Term 2: The second term shifts towards reading comprehension, with targeted strategies to help children interpret texts, make inferences, and engage critically. This approach will help your child internalise exam-style thinking in a more natural, less pressured way.
- Term 3: The final term brings together all the core skills. Through flexible blocks of reading comprehension and creative writing, your child will be off to a flying start come Year 5!

Year 5 11+ Course Overview
In Year 5, we focus on building the skills your child needs to nurture their intellectual curiosity and emotional resilience for 11 Plus English exam success!
- Term 1: We begin with a focus on creative writing, encouraging children to hone their writer’s voice and imagination. In the second half of the term, we introduce a structured balance between reading comprehension and creative writing.
- Term 2: The first half of the term centres on reading comprehension, supporting your child to analyse challenging texts and articulate their understanding. This is followed by alternating blocks of comprehension and creative writing, offering variety and depth.
- Term 3: In the final term, we integrate writing and reading comprehension skills.These blended blocks will help your child connect ideas, refine their thinking, and apply their learning with greater independence under timed conditions.

Weekly Small Group Coaching (online or in-person)
During our 75-minute tutorials we will consistently build both your child’s English skills and confidence for lasting results. Creative Writing Excellence: From powerful story planning to vivid language, your child will learn how to write with depth and structure. We will cover the full range of creative writing question types (fiction and non-fiction including letter writing). Comprehension Confidence (open-ended questions): Exposure to real 11 Plus texts from your target schools, with high-level question practice and refined written techniques.
Tailored Feedback on Your Child's Work
Half-termly, you are welcome to send me a sample of your child’s work for me to personally review and provide you with feedback. For those who would like even more insight, there is an optional add-on: private consultation time where we will discuss your child’s learning.

The creative writing and reading comprehension classes have been carefully structured to allow for joyful learning and deep mastery! Each Year 4 and Year 5 group follows a strategically planned, indepth curriculum that encourages mastery of creative writing and reading comprehension for English success.
Which school exams do you prepare children for?
I taught in south-west London for many years so I typically coach children for competitive schools in this area including: St. Paul’s, City of London, King’s College, Wimbleson, Latymer Upper, Dulwich, Alleyn’s, as well as other elite independents and top grammar schools in North London, notably Dame Alice Owen’s School and Latymer (Edmonton).
As an experienced school teacher, I will adapt the content and expectations depending on your desired target schools’ formats and question styles.
When and how are lessons delivered?
Lessons are delivered on weekdays in term-time, via Zoom or in-person in South West London from September.
Year 4 sessions are 60-minutes.
Year 5 sessions are 75-minutes.
