What do parents think?

Here are some reviews from the children’s parents

Rated 5 out of 5
“She liked the tiger picture to give her an idea where to start and because it was an interesting idea. She says her writing is more fun and easier now that she knows where her stories are going. She learned to have a plan which she has used again. She's also learned that it’s ok (and actually even good) to cross things out in her stories. Encouraged to edit. Given lots of positive encouragement and feedback.”

How long is the 11+ English Mastery Programme?

The Year 5 11+ English Mastery Programme runs for 9 months, beginning in January.

An accelerated pathway for children sitting Grammar school exams in September 2027, takes place from January to July.

The programme runs during term time, covering a minimum of three lessons per month.

To make sure the programme is the right fit for your child, parents are asked to send Clare a recent piece of their child’s writing.

Who is the programme for?

The programme is for Year 5 pupils preparing for 11+ English exams for highly selective independent schools in London, as well as the following grammar school exams: The Henrietta Barnett School, CSSE 11+ and The Latymer School.

The programme is a 9-month course designed to prepare children for second-stage entrance examinations held in the late autumn term.

Parents whose children are sitting the CSEE or Latymer examinations may opt for an accelerated pathway, allowing them to complete the programme before their exam dates.

How are familarisation assessments run?

Familarisation assessments are run by Clare every other month and are carefully designed to reflect your target school admissions.

Sessions take place from the comfort of your home under timed conditions within a calm online environment. Written feedback is shared with parents to provide clear guidance on progress and next steps.

My child is quite competitive—will the group sessions suit them?

For some children with a strong sense of competition it can be helpful to begin with a few one-to-one tutorials with Clare to instil confidence in core skills, before joining the small group programme.

When children start the group creative writing programme sessions a healthy degree of competition is natural and often beneficial, but the environment remains supportive, ensuring each child feels gently encouraged as well as challenged.
