Grow your child's confidence and essential skills with my 2-hour 11+ English Comprehension workshop. Designed to get children familiar with the types of questions they'll encounter in their competitive Independent or Grammar school exams in a relaxed and supportive environment.

How Does It Work?

Your child will learn how to approach and answer the different types of questions, along with tips for handling difficult vocabulary. We'll take a 15-minute break about halfway through the session. Children will have time to share their sample answers and I'll share my feedback. Before booking, please know that this workshop focuses on written comprehension, not a multiple-choice exam format.

What will your child learn?

Improve your inference skills

Practise inferring information from given clues. By learning to identify context clues, students can make more accurate inferences.

Understand how to interpret 11-Plus texts

Learn to understand the gist of a text by finding the important parts and looking at how it's organised.

How to structure your answers

Learn how to structure answers using the PEE method. P.E.E. stands for Point, Evidence, Explain.

Answer tricky vocabulary questions

Identify strategies to help tackle unfamiliar words and phrases in 11+ comprehension passages.

Who is the workshop for?

This workshop is ideal for Year 5 students who want to master reading comprehension and learn how to structure their answers with accuracy and confidence. It is also suitable for ambitious Year 4 students looking to get familiar with the format of a standard 11+ comprehension paper. Clare specialises in independent school admissions in Southwest London and North London grammar schools.

What is the course fee?

The fee for this teacher-led workshop is £75.

What is the group size?

There will be a maximum of 5 children.

Do parents receive feedback?

Yes! Send me your child's written answers from the workshop to receive feedback and some tips for furthering progress.

What's your cancellation policy?

If you need to cancel, I do not offer a refund unless your child's place can be filled. However, you prefer to move your booking to a different date.
